. Essentially — You use an Internet connection provided through the university when you live on campus (and, in many cases, even if you live off campus). That university connection allows you to communicate with your professors, access your grades, keep up with campus news, do take-home exams, etc. It also allows the university to monitor your Internet use to determine whether you are accessing Internet search engines while doing a take-home exam or using sites that sell essay papers that you can plagiarize. Some schools warn their students that they are being monitored to prevent them from cheating.
